Day 1: Flight from SG to Wuhan and Bus Ride from Wuhan Airport to WUST hostel
Didn't have internet so does not have the chance to post about it yesterday. So this is how the journey goes!
Gathered @ Changi Airport, Terminal 1 at 0530 am in the morning, checked-in and went into the gate to board the flight CZ 352 heading Guangzhou, China for transit. MDE Group photo as well as my group's group photo before setting off for Guangzhou! It was rather a heart wrenching moment to see so many family members and friends coming to send their friends off. Of course, my family came as well.
And of course, with the company of great friends around, this Overseas Immersion Programme (OIP) will definitely be an interesting and exciting one. Goodbye people, goodbye Singapore! See you all in 6 weeks time! :D
After a long and tiring morning, we boarded the plane and off we go to Guangzhou!
Most of us didn't have enough sleep the night before. Thus, after taking off, most of us fell asleep as we woke up too early to meet up at the airport. Some of us didn't sleep throughout the night too! We were all very tired. Soon after taking off, we had our first meal served on board! Fish with rice and bun, as well as some salad.
After the flight to Guangzhou, we disembarked and checked-out and waited for the collection of our transfer boarding pass. After which, we collected our luggages and proceeded to the domestic flight area to check in our luggages. We waited there for quite some time for the transit to Wuhan itself. The wait was rather long so we decided to have our lunch or some break time at Jin Long Restaurant where we got a shock of our life. The chrysanthemum tea which we ordered cost RMB15 per person which is roughly SGD$3 per person. I ordered a bowl of meatball noodles about RMB40.
After the wonderful lunch we had at the restaurant, we proceed with the transit to Wuhan, CZ3344. The flight to Wuhan was rather a short one. We had some food on board the plane and it was rather nice. It took us around 2hours to reach Wuhan where we took another 2 hours plus of bus ride down the road to our hostel at Wuhan University of Science and Technology (WUST).
After a long and tiring journey, we finally reached our hostel at WUST. We put our luggages at the hostel and headed out for dinner. We was served a 12 dish cuisine, which a rather big servings, which most of us didn't manage to finish them up. It was definitely too much for us. We headed back to the hostel after that, washed up and unpack our stuffs and off to sleep as we were all very tired after the long journey.
Thats all for today! Here are some interesting photos which I took along the way. Click to enlarge. More photos will be uploaded on my facebook! Enjoy! :D
My Reflections:
After a long journey from Singapore to Wuhan, and from what i experienced from the time which we set off till now, i've learned that even though we are chinese and we speak mandarin, it is rather difficult for us to communicate with the locals as they have an different accent and different tone. We will need to pay close attention to them and listen carefully in order to understand them. As such, communication among people is very important in life and proper communication is very crucial to our daily lives.
